It's getting a little nutty out there when it comes to commercial theft in Waterloo Region.
Police say they are investigating the second recent "nut-related" theft in the region, this time in Wilmot Township in a case that is similar to a nut theft in Cambridge late last year.
Waterloo Regional Police say a transport truck and a trailer loaded with $70,000 worth of pistachios went missing from the yard of a business yesterday in Wilmot Township.
In a news release, police say at around 9:30 p.m. unknown suspects stole the truck and trailer from a business in the area of Foundry Street and Gingerich Road.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
The incident was the second recent nut-related vehicle theft in the region, police note.
On Nov. 5 last year, a transport truck and trailer containing walnuts was stolen from the yard of a business near Eagle Street North and Hespeler Road in Cambridge.
