Child suffers life-threatening injuries, woman charged with attempted murder

Waterloo Regional Police have arrested and charged a Woolwich Township female with attempted murder.

On Sept. 16, 2024 at approximately 7:30 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police officers responded to a request for a wellness check at a residence in St. Jacobs.

On arrival, officers located a boy with serious, life-threatening injuries. The child was transported to an out-of-region hospital by Region of Waterloo Paramedic Services.

A 39-year-old female was located and arrested for attempted murder. She was transported to an out-of-region hospital by paramedics with non-life-threatening injuries.

The female is being held in police custody for a bail hearing.

The two parties are known to each other.

The investigation remains ongoing by Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Major Crime Unit.
