Charges laid in Waterloo fireworks incident

A 37-year-old from Kitchener is facing multiple assault charges as a result of the incident

Waterloo Regional Police have charged a male in connection to an assault investigation in Waterloo.

On July 1, 2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m., a female victim was walking on Central Street when a male shot and struck her with a firework. A male victim was also assaulted. 

On July 3, 2024, officers from WRPS' Patrol Division arrested the involved male after he attended Central Division in Kitchener.

As a result of the investigation, the male, a 37-year-old from Kitchener, has been charged with assault with a weapon and assault.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 7, 2024.
