Waterloo Regional Police arrested nine drivers for impaired offences on roadways throughout Waterloo Region within nine hours.
In Cambridge, shortly after 7:45 p.m., on March 17, police responded to the area of Hespeler Road and Dunbar Road after receiving a report of a possible impaired driver leaving a dining establishment. Through investigation, police arrested and charged a 53-year-old female from Cambridge with Operation while Impaired and Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration.
In Waterloo, on March 17, at approximately 10:55 p.m., police received a report of a vehicle being operated erratically in the area of University Avenue East near Phillip Street. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, a 38-year-old Waterloo male, was charged with Refusal to Comply with Demand.
In Kitchener, at around 1 a.m., on March 18, an officer on patrol in the area of Westmount Road West and Chopin Drive, arrested an impaired driver after conducting a traffic stop. Several open containers of alcohol were located in the vehicle. The driver, a 19-year-old male from Kitchener, was charged with Operation while Impaired.
In total, 15 charges for impaired-related offences were laid during the period between 6:30 p.m. on March 17 and 3:30 a.m. on March 18. Charges included Operation while Impaired, Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration, Refusal to Comply with Demand and Dangerous Operation.
