William Smith, born in 1933 in Bronte, Ontario, passed away quietly on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Sakura House hospice at the age of 88 years.
Bill has been reunited with his wife, Janet (nee Wehrle), who predeceased him in 2017. Loved father of Sandy Hastie (Ken), Brian Edward Smith and Richard Smith (Trina). Proud Grandpa of Joel, Logan, Brianna, Mackenzie, Darren, Dillon and Erica. Bill is fondly remembered by his sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Crawford, his nephew Robert Crawford (Diane), as well as other nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Alexander and Helen Smith, his sisters Jean Addis and Helen Hibbs, and his brothers, Edward Smith and Alex Smith. He was very proud of his 35 years as a receiver at Babcock and Wilcox, and had fond memories of the camaraderie and friendship there. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the David Durward Centre, or to Sakura House Hospice (VON Oxford) and can be arranged by contacting the funeral home.
