NOVEMBER 3, 1927 – JUNE 29, 2024
Passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at the age of 96. Mary is predeceased by her mother Rosetta MacDonald, father William Harold Scott, brother John Scott and sister Wilma Scott.
She will be missed enormously by her sister Margaret Scott. She will also be missed by her nephews; Edward (Pauline), Harold (Sylvia), John, Douglas and her nieces; Mary Davies and Margaret Mantler.
Mary was born at the Galt General Hospital and spent her early years in the close-knit community of Branchton. She attended grade school in her hometown before moving on to GCI in Galt for her high school education. With a keen interest in the medical field, Mary furthered her studies to become an X-ray technician, a profession in which she found great fulfillment. Her career spanned several decades, with dedicated service at Guelph General Hospital and Cambridge Memorial Hospital, where she touched many lives with her professionalism and compassion.
Mary was an active and cherished member of First United Church, where she found a sense of community and purpose. She had a lifelong love of gardening and took great pride in arranging beautiful flowers, a hobby that brought color and joy to her and those around her. Mary also had a deep affection for driving, finding freedom and pleasure on the open road.
Her warmth, kindness, and dedication to her passions and profession will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Friends and family will be received on Sunday, July 7, 2024 from 2-4 p.m. at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street (519) 621-1650. A Funeral Service will be held the following day, on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 11 a.m. within the funeral home chapel. Mary will be laid to rest at Mount View Cemetery, Cambridge.
As expressions of sympathy, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to Cedar Hill United Church or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
