September 7, 1934 – March 8, 2025
Dolores Regina Moffat passed away peacefully on Saturday March the 8th in Cambridge, Ontario.
Born in Mexico City in 1934 to William Sprowls and Dolores Saury.
She leaves behind her husband of 67 years Dr. John Harris Moffat and her six children Lorie Wasylyshyn (Bob) of Vancouver, Tinti Moffat of Nashville, John Moffat (Paula) of Burlington, Mike Moffat (Nikki) of Unionville, Steve Moffat (the late Janet Miklas) of Toronto, Robert Moffat (Vicki) of Burlington and 15 grandchildren plus 6 great grandchildren.
Dolores also leaves her brothers Jimmy Sprowls of San Miguel de Allende, Eddie Sprowls (Sofia) of San Miguel de Allende and Tony Sprowls (Lourdes) of Mexico City. Dolores was predeceased by her brother Billy Sprowls (Carolina) of Mexico City.
Dolores took her primary education in Mexico City, her secondary education at Mount St Joseph Academy for Girls in Philadelphia, and her nursing degree at the La Cardiologia, in Mexico City. She then took post graduate OR Training at St Michaels Hospital in Toronto where she met her husband and never looked back.
Dolores had her six children by the time she was 30, leaving the next 50 years for tennis, golf, bowling, curling and skiing with family and friends. She loved to be active and involved.
As the years went by, Dolores became the centerpiece of a large, happy, and affectionate family. She set a beautiful example, a wonderful standard.
Her happiest moments were when she was with family members, and despite 67 years of living in Canada, she maintained a very close relationship with her Mexican family.
The family will be forever grateful to the PSW team (Brenda, Reina, Magaly and Claudia) who cared for Dolores over the last few years and helped her remain in her home. Their kindness and compassion has been truly outstanding. Also, the Cambridge Palliative Care Associates were instrumental in keeping Dolores comfortable and well looked after at home. Special thanks to family friend Sharon Astley Viscardi for her generosity with not only her time, but also in providing us with specialized medical equipment to assist with Dolores’s care.
Cremation has taken place. The family will hold a private Mass. A gathering to honour Dolores’ life will be held at a later date.
