SEPTEMBER 8, 1938 – AUGUST 28, 2021
It's with deep sorrow and much love that the family of Elaine Ruth Meecham (Deforest) of Cambridge, Ontario is saddened to announce her passing on Saturday August 28, 2021 at the age of 82 years.
Lovingly Remembered by her Children, Sherry Blades, Sandra Godin (Real) Gary Meecham Jr., and Kevin Meecham. Beloved Grandmother of Bradley, Michael, Donald, Andrea, Chelsea, Karen, Quinten, Sarah Rebekah, Amber, Wendy, Kyle, Daniel and Aaron. Beloved Great-Grandmother of Olivia, Owen, Jessica and Blake. She will be sadly missed by her nieces, nephews and many friends. Elaine is Predeceased by her Loving Husband Gary Meecham Sr.,(2005) of 47 years and her Son William Meecham (2018), Parents Harold Amos Deforest (1964) and Mary Ellen Deforest (1979), Siblings, Marie, Harold, Karl, Hartley, Donny, Juanita and Ann.
Elaine was born and raised in Acton, Ontario. When she was 18 years old she moved to Long Branch and got a job at Admiral, later a cashier at A&P where she would meet and marry her future husband. The mother and father in law set them up on a date. The rest is history! Elaine was a devoted wife and mother. Her hands were full having 5 children in 8 years.
Elaine was always a ray of sunshine, she lit up a room wherever she went. Everyone loved her. She enjoyed playing Bingo, Euchre, singing at Karaoke, music and dancing. She encompassed a beautiful spirit. Always a kind, positive, friendly woman. Her motto in life was "Live, Love, Laugh" which she did to the fullest.
To honour Elaine’s wishes cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Inurnment New Dundee Union Cemetery.
We would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Grand River Hospital, Kitchener for their compassionate care during our mother’s final days of life.
