Dorothy Mary Laurie (née Byrne), born on January 3, 1939, in Bell Island, Newfoundland, passed away Surrounded by her loved ones at the age of 85 on July 23, 2024, in Kitchener, Ontario. She is remembered for her vibrant spirit and cherished by those who knew her. Dorothy was predeceased by her true love Gerald Benedict Laurie, Parents Mariah Byrne, James Byrne and Molly Winsor. Also predeceased by sisters, Gladys and Frances, brother Jerome, and brother in laws Albert, Steve, Peter and Robert, and granddaughter Kara.

Dorothy's bright blue eyes and amazing soul will be deeply missed   by the many people that were ever so lucky to have been in her life.  Daughter Elizabeth Laurie (Lloyd Miller) and Son Jim Laurie. Also leaving to mourn Sisters Eileen, Liz, Marilyn Lewis, Sonia (Rennie). Brothers, Pierce (Alice), George (Kit), Wally (Sally), Gary, Maurice, and Shawn (Allison)

She also leaves behind many grandchildren who looked up to her dearly.  Ashley Lourenco (Nelson Lourenco) Brittany Hobler, Tanya Laurie (Mark), Tiffany Laurie (Harold), Kayla Laurie (Josh), Dylan Laurie, Nicole Laurie, Emma Tavares-Laurie and Owen Laurie and many great grandchildren.

Dorothy Battled Dementia for the ladder part of her beautiful life. A special thank you goes out to Elizabeth Laurie and her Daughter Ashley Lourenco for being by Dorothy's side through the difficulties of this disease. Also AgeCare in Kitchener who all got to meet Dorothy and her smile.

Resting at Lounsbury Funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Blvd, Cambridge, where family and friends will be received for visitation on Friday July 26, 2024 from 2-4:00 p.m. and 7-9:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 53 Wellington St, Cambridge on Saturday July 27, 2024 at 10:00a.m. Interment to follow at New Hope Cemetery.

Dorothy had a very caring and selfless soul, so in lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to Alzheimer Society of Canada
