FEBRUARY 27, 1937 – AUGUST 27, 2021

With profound sadness, his family announces that Moe passed away peacefully on Friday, August 27th 2021 at The Village of Riverside Glen in Guelph, Ontario in his 85th year.

Moe was the beloved father of Michelle Shorgan and her husband Michael. He was the very proud and loving grandfather of Matthieu and Mitchell Shorgan.

Moe will also be lovingly remembered by his siblings Gilles, Marie-Claire, Jeanne D’Arc, Raymond (Nicole), Noëlla, Germain, Yvon (Pauline), Denyse (Marcel), and Jean-Marie, as well as by Marie Braby, Susan Shorgan (Mary Beth), his nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Armand and Irène (née Daoust) Langevin and his beloved Aunt “Matante Léopoldine” of Alfred, Ontario. He is also predeceased by his siblings Gérald, Robert, Jean-Guy, Ronald, Armande, Rock, Jacques, Colette, and Fernand.

When he was 17 years old, Moe read a sign that said: “Join the Navy; See the world,” and that’s exactly what he did. After serving in the Royal Canadian Navy for over 31 years, he enjoyed his retirement in Victoria B.C., before moving to Guelph to be closer to his family. He loved corn on the cob, cheese curds, downhill skiing, golf, dancing, long walks, travelling, watching the news, admiring cars, following the stock market, and especially visits from his grandsons and spending time with his family.

He faced his declining health with courage, strength and dignity, without ever complaining. When words began to fail, he communicated with his charming smile and thumbs-up signs. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Karen Kennedy and the devoted staff at the Village of Riverside Glen for their loving and compassionate care.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and services to celebrate his life will take place at a later date.

In remembrance of Moe, his loved ones are encouraged to treat themselves to their favourite ice cream or beer, to raise a glass in Moe’s honour, and to reminisce about special times spent together.

I’ve lived a life that’s full, I’ve traveled each and every highway, And more, much more than this..... I did it my way.”
