It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joyce Irene Gordon, who passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in her 92nd year.
Beloved mother of Maureen (Dave) Silverthorn, Colleen (Mike) Penner, and Pauleen (Mike) Pebesma. She was a cherished grandmother to Nathan (Julia) Silverthorn, Rachael (Darryl) Silverthorn-Leachman, Olivia (Alex) Penner-O'Donnell, Laura Penner-Aguirre, Emily (Ryan) Parachoniak, Brady Penner (Jessie Lacina), Erin (Seth) Allison, and Adrienne Pebesma (Greg Zuber). Joyce was also a proud great-grandmother to Kyle, Tyler and Sydney Leachman; Ethan and Natalia Silverthorn; Mateo and Xiomara Penner-O'Donnell; Bella, Tiago and Naira Aguirre; Lucas, William and Jacob Parachoniak and Cecily Rose Allison. Dear sister to Annetta Martelle and Jim (Carol) Robinson.
Joyce is predeceased by and together once again with her loving husband, David John Gordon, her brother-in-law, Leo Martelle and her grandson-in-law, Luis Miguel Aguirre.
Joyce’s life was marked by her unwavering love for her family, her kindness, and her generous spirit. Her memory will forever be a blessing to all who knew her.
Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate Joyce’s life on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Forward Church, 55 Franklin Boulevard, Cambridge N1R 5S2. Visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. (a live stream will be available 15 minutes prior to the service) followed by a light lunch. Interment will take place at a later date.
As expressions of sympathy, donations in Joyce’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or Faith’s Orphans Fund.
