DECEMBER 8, 1934 – SEPTEMBER 1, 2021
The patriarch of our family our Dear father Manuel Vieira Goulart Da Rosa of Cambridge Ontario passed away Thursday, September 1, 2021 in his 87th year. After several months of declining health, Manuel died peacefully at Brantford General Hospital.
Manuel was born on the tiny island of Faial in the archipelago of the Acores, Portugal on December 8, 1934 to Helen Goulart and Manuel V. Da Rosa. The second oldest of eight children, he became a father figure to his youngest siblings. He helped out his family putting their needs first many times. One of Manuel’s life passions was his music, and playing his instruments. He was a talented craftsman and his furnishings and wood pieces will be cherished by many. His work ethic and desire to take care of his family led him to immigrate in 1971 to Galt Ontario, now Cambridge.
Manuel was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife Maria Ilidia (2004), married September 1, 1962. He is also preceded by his parents, his sister Nazare and his brother Mario. He is survived by his two loving daughters Ilidia Sa Melo (Victor), and Dalila Figueiredo (George); cherished grandchildren Jocelyn and Aaron Sa Melo and Melanie and Sarah Figueiredo. He will be missed by his three brothers Joao (Maria), Jose Luis (Ligia), Herculano (Teresa), all from California; his doting sister Nazare (Mario) from Massachusetts; and two sisters-in-law Liudina Rose (California) and Maria Albertina Escobar (Cambridge). He also leaves behind many godchildren, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Private Visitation and Mass will be held in the coming weeks, and Burial at Parklawn Cemetery.
