William David Fisher, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away surrounded by loved ones on December 17th, 2024.
He spent his entire life in Cambridge, Ontario and led a life dedicated to laughter and commitment to family. Bill is survived by his wife Tonia, his two children Karrie (Trevor) and Michael (Jackie); his grandchildren Joshua and Kylee and his sisters Gloria (Tony) and twin sister Linda. He was predeceased by his brother and close friend Jack. However, if you knew Bill, you knew that not only did family mean everything to him, but that family was not defined by blood. Rather it was a term he used to describe those he loved and would support irregardless of the situation or personal cost. Therefore the list of people range from cherished nieces and nephews, a beloved Goddaughter, friends and a family of boys he helped grow into men.
Bill always tried to keep his circle small, but despite his best efforts the web he cast extended far further than he appreciated. While Bill spent the majority of his working career in varying levels of sales, he was the most alive when he was coaching and helping pass along life lessons. In coaching, he had a passion for sport that was built as a young athlete and enhanced later in life as a coach. He always had a belief in the power of sport and its ability to bring people together while also providing people the opportunity to improve themselves and their situation.
Despite his coaching career ending, he continued to give out advice and tell engaging stories to his loved ones. One of his final memories was a night that finished with him and his grandchildren together telling stories, or more accurately, his grandchildren listening while their Papa told and retold stories of his past.
A celebration of life will be held at The Quarry House (377 George St N) on April 13th from 1 - 4pm where loved ones are welcome to gather and share stories and honour Bill’s memory.
Bill's entire family would like to extend a tremendous amount of gratitude to all those who shared in his life and adventures. Bill will always be with us as we take parts of him wherever we go and while we miss him dearly, we are so grateful for the time we shared with him. He will forever be in our hearts.
