DECEMBER 9, 1960 – FEBRUARY 20, 2024

Margaret “Dorothy” Bonvanie (nee Devries), of Cambridge, ON, passed away suddenly on February 20, 2024. She was 63 years old. Her sudden loss has deeply saddened the hearts of all her family and friends.

Dorothy was born on December 9, 1960 to the late Jolle “Joe” and Jantje “Jean” Devries. She was a loving wife to Bill Bonvanie. Together, they were caring and devoted parents to their four sons; Allan, Ian, Ken, and Patrick. Dorothy loved being a mother, and ultimately, a mother-in-law to Jess (Patrick) and soon to be mother-in-law to Hanah (Ian).

Dorothy was a loving sister and sister-in-law to Arthur Potts von der Lippe, Rainer Leipscher, Lynn Baxter, Emma Devries (Alan Voves), Louise Eitel (Jeff), Jo-Anne Edlund (Mark), Alfred Devries, Alice Burgsma (Byrne), Harold Devries (Michelle), and Gerald Devries (Natasha). Predeceased by her brothers, Robert Devries, John Devries, sister, Grace Leipscher, and sister-in-law, Joanne Devries. She will be remembered by Bill’s siblings, many nieces and nephews, friends, neighbours, and her church family.

Dorothy was a loving wife and mother to her four sons. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family. Dorothy took great pride in tending to her garden, and would often admire the birds in her yard. For many years, Dorothy worked as Office Manager for her and her husband Bill’s Plumbing business. Upon retirement, she would spend her time gardening, camping, knitting, volunteering at the local food bank, friendship group through her Church, and with Bill and the family. Dorothy loved anyone for who they were, and would consistently offer her warmth and kindness to anyone in need.

Visitation will take place at Maranatha Christian Reformed Church, Cambridge on Tuesday, February 27th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Maranatha Christian Reformed Church on Wednesday, February 28 at 10 a.m. The service will be livestreamed.
