The Cambridge RedHawks are going to be well represented when the pucks drop at the annual Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League Top Prospects games later this month.
Five Cambridge players and a coach will participate in the games at the Dan Snyder Memorial Arena in Elmira on Dec. 27.
The event divides the top 16 and 17-year-old players into four teams, with each playing one game.
Forward Ryder Simpson will suit up for Team Doyle, forwards Weston Cameron, Joshua Kaufman and goaltender Brandon Balcar will play for Team Martin and forward Reid Gammage has been named to Team Schlitt.
RedHawks assistant coach Jordan Hatzinger will serve as a coach for Team Martin.
Gammage currently leads the team with 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 points in 29 games.
“We want to pack this house” Laurie Wittie, Sugar Kings team president, said in a release on the league's website.
“We’ve got room for 1,500 fans and scouts. It’s going to be an exciting day."
Team Martin will take on Team Rinaldo at 3 p.m. followed by Team Doyle facing Team Schlitt at 6 p.m.
Cambridge has two games remaining ahead of the league's holiday break.
The RedHawks host the Ayr Centennials at Galt Arena Gardens on Saturday at 7 p.m. before visiting the Welland Canadians on Sunday at 7 p.m.
The schedule picks back up after Christmas on Jan. 2 when they travel to Hamilton to face the Kilty B's.
