Cambridge defenceman Chandler Romeo's latest stint with the Orlando Solar Bears has come to an end.
The ECHL affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning announced it had released Romeo on Tuesday. He had signed a standard player contract back in July for the 2024-25 season.
His release comes three days before the Solar Bears open the regular season.
Romeo played in 189 Ontario Hockey League games prior to embarking on his professional career. Stops in Hamilton, Sarnia and Guelph saw him produce 12 goals and 31 assists for 43 points. He also recorded 218 penalty minutes.
Following the end of the 2023-24 season, the 6'6" rearguard signed an amateur tryout contract with the Solar Bears but didn't appear in a game.
Romeo was originally selected in the seventh round of the 2021 National Hockey League draft by the Ottawa Senators
