The YWCA Cambridge has partnered with local business Greentec to help raise funds for its women's emergency homeless shelter.
The partnership will see Greentec match monetary donations up to $5,000 through an end of year fundraising campaign.
According to the YWCA Cambridge, it will take $125,000 to get the shelter up and running.
“We’re ecstatic to have Greentec’s support as we work to raise the $15,000 we need to purchase all of the furnishings and supplies required to get this shelter operational and ready to begin providing a safe and warm place for women experiencing homelessness to go,” YWCA Cambridge Chief Executive Officer Kim Decker said in a release.
“Greentec’s commitment will significantly enhance our ability to provide essential services for women experiencing homelessness in Cambridge – services that have for too long been lacking in our community.”
The organization is currently in the midst of a fundraising push.
Monetary donations, purchases from its Amazon wishlist of items, partnership opportunities and third party fundraisers are all options for people and businesses to support. For $250, donors can outfit a bed with all the essentials, including bedding, blankets and a shower caddy.
"It is critical that we provide vulnerable women in our community the opportunity to rebuild their lives with dignity and safety," Betty Pereira, Chief Operating Officer of Greentec, said.
"We believe that everyone deserves a safe place to call home, and we are committed to supporting YWCA Cambridge in this important endeavour."
Greentec is an IT asset disposal and e-waste recycling company.
The shelter is scheduled to open in December.
