In an empty parking lot you can hear the generator buzz and the smell of beef and bacon sizzling on the grill.

There is a new food truck in town and their goal is simple; to make the best burger in Cambridge.

"This is the best burger in town, period," said Rob Burnette, owner of Rob's Burger Wagon.

After 10 years of working in industrial factories and then transitioning into a fully liquor licensed delivery service for the Cambridge area in 2016, Burnette is no stranger to serving people. The difference now is he is cooking up his own food inside his new commercial kitchen on wheels.

"I came to the realization a few years back that there is no good burger in this town. So I decided to make my own."

Cooking at home was something that Burnette has been doing for years and with years of experience hand delivering food to the community with his company Crazee 8 deliveries, he was able to gather a sense of what people liked and disliked.

"The burger can be understated, everyone has one and can make one, but not everyone's is as good as mine," he said.

With simple and high quality ingredients, Burnette has crafted a towering burger made with all the fixings you'd expect to find; lettuce, onions, pickles, the classics.

Where the Crazee 8's burger really shines is all in the beef.

Using a secret recipe of spices Burnette is not ready to reveal, he does let out that he only uses 100 per cent halal meats, because of the quality standard they use.

"Even with the high quality beef, because we're not going to cheap out, we can still price it good, because it's important that people can afford our food," he added. "Unlike a lot of other places we don't use fillers that are just going to make you hungry again in an hour."

After smashing two all beef patties on the grill, Burnette and his helper Jenny stack the burger patty by patty until there is a mouthwateringly-high mountain of meats, melted cheese and toppings.

When asked if Rob's Burger Wagon will expand its menu, Burnette admits they are not looking to add anything else, no tacos, burritos or nachos and are even looking at removing ther hot-dogs from the order sheet.

"We want to focus on the burgers, people love them and we love making them," said Burnette.

Having only been in business since the start of September, the burger wagon has already set up at events as a vendor and quickly sold out.

"We were having to turn people away, we sold all our food. When you see someone holding a burger like this, you're going to want to find out where to get one," he laughed.

For now, Rob's Burger Wagon will be operating out of the lot next to the old Keleher's building at 172 King St. E in Preston.

Looking to the future, Burnette wants to build another burger wagon, bringing them to events and serving his Crazee 8's burger to as many people as possible.

"I've eaten enough burgers and been around long enough to know that this is the best burger in town, I'm just excited that I get to share this with the city and bring a good burger back to Cambridge."
