If you're watching tv, listening to the radio, or have a cell phone on hand at 12:55 p.m. tomorrow, don't be surprised to hear the startling sound of the Alert Ready system, which is testing the service across Ontario.
Alert Ready is Canada’s emergency alerting system, designed to deliver critical and potentially life-saving alerts to Canadians through television, radio and LTE-connected and compatible wireless devices.
The Alert Ready system was developed with many partners, including federal, provincial and territorial emergency management officials, Environment and Climate Change Canada, Pelmorex, the broadcasting industry and wireless service providers.
To help improve the overall Alert Ready system, a third party partner is conducting a short survey about the test.
Click here to participate in the survey.
Do not call 911 for information about the test. Using 911 for non-emergency calls could delay help for people experiencing real emergencies.
Heads up, #WatReg! Tomorrow, you'll be getting a routine test emergency alert on your phone, TV, and radio. This is a TEST of the national wide emergency alerting system, @AlertReady. No action is required.
