Feb. 21 WRPS update:
Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a homicide that occurred in Cambridge.
On February 20, 2022, at approximately 10:25 pm, police responded to a residence in the area of Cedar Street and Briar Hill Avenue after receiving reports of shots fired.
Upon arrival, police located a 46-year-old Cambridge male with injuries sustained from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an out-of-region hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The suspect is believed to have fled the area in a vehicle. The suspect is described as a white male in his late teens, approximately 5'8" tall, with a slim build, dark brown wavy hair and brown eyes. The male was last seen wearing a red satchel around his neck, a grey tracksuit with black trim zippers and strings and black shoes. The vehicle is described as a black Mazda SUV with tinted windows.
The suspect was last seen in the area of Cedar Street in Cambridge and may be armed. If seen, do not approach but call 9-1-1 immediately.
The investigation is ongoing by members of our Major Crime Unit, General Detectives and the Forensic Identification Unit.
Investigators believe this to be an isolated incident, and the suspect and victim were known to each other. Investigators with our Major Crime Unit continue to follow up on investigative leads, and further updates will be provided when available.
There will continue to be an increased police presence in the area as police conduct a canvass of the neighbourhood for witnesses and information.

The incident happened in the area of Ceder Street and Dale Avenue.
The male suspect is in his late teens and is identified as slim build, with dark brown wavy hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a red pouch around his neck, a grey tracksuit with black trim zippers and strings, and black shoes.
Police say they are also looking for a black Mitsubishi SUV with tinted windows.
The service says the suspect is armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees the suspect is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.
