The Cambridge Canada Day Committee is proud to announce the 2024 Parade Marshals. This year’s Grand Marshals have been selected for their outstanding achievements representing the City of Cambridge at the Special Olympics Provincial Spring Games, an event that welcomed over 750 athletes from across Ontario to Waterloo Region.
“It is an honour to be chosen as the Grand Marshall of our Canada Day Parade”, said Mayor Jan Liggett. “Every year someone who stands out is chosen to represent the community but this year I cannot think of any one person more worthy than these four Olympians who represented our country at the Special Olympics.
As Grand Marshalls they will once again represent us with the same pride they did when embodying the spirit of perseverance, determination and excellence at the Games. This year the honour is ours to have them in this role of leading us in the festivities of the day. Great Canadians celebrating our great country, Canada. We look forward to seeing you at and in the parade!”
Riding on the float as the 2024 Grand Marshals:

- Jason Irving - Bowler
- Amber Murphy - Bowler
- Kiara Wilson - Swimmer
The City would also like to acknowledge the following Cambridge athletes who also participated in the Provincial Spring Games but are unable to attend the parade:
- Taylor Boeru - Swimmer
- Cooper Moore - Swimmer
- Brad Van Alten - Swimmer
- Mackenzie Doobie – Swimmer
“We want to acknowledge the hard work and achievements of our Special Olympians and are pleased to honor them as our 2024 parade marshals”, said Parade Coordinator Carol Thorman.
The Canada Day Parade has been delighting Cambridge residents since the early 1900’s when it was then known as the Dominion Day Parade. Parade entries this year include a variety of bands, community and cultural groups, sports teams, car clubs and more.
Follow the parade route
The Canada Day Parade, a highlight of the day’s events, will kick off at Bishop Street at 11 a.m. and head north on King St, making its way to Eagle St, where spectators can enter Riverside Park for Cambridge’s largest Canada Day Event. All are welcome to enjoy a full day of fun for all ages including food trucks, vendors, midway, concerts and a spectacular fireworks display at dusk.
