Veida was found extremely thin with her ribs and spine showing.

For the third time in less than a month, the Cambridge and District Humane Society has picked up a dog in distress.

Veida was found walking around a trailer park by herself this week, with the humane society saying she's a victim of starvation.

"Why does this keep happening," a post on the shelter's Facebook page reads.

"Her hip bones stick out, her ribs and spine are painfully visible and she sustained her hunger by eating asphalt. She’s weak from being malnourished and we wonder how long she asked someone to feed her."

Veida is currently being fostered by a member of the animal care team.

The discovery of Veida comes just weeks after the humane society picked up White Beard and Toto, two dogs who were also found wandering the streets in rough condition.

Veterinary bills for the pair came in around $3,500.

The CDHS continues to educate the public on the help that's available via its services, including through its emergency pet food bank and compassion fund that assists with emergency vet bills.

Anyone interested in supporting the humane society can do so by making a monetary donation, a donation to the pet food bank or by purchasing a 50/50 ticket for its monthly draws.
