Sleigh bells ring for 42nd annual Hespeler Santa Claus Parade

Hundreds of people lined the streets in Hespeler Village on Saturday for the 42nd annual Santa Claus Parade.

It was a cold and blustery day on Saturday, but that didn’t stop people from catching a glimpse of Santa Claus at the 42nd annual Santa Claus Parade in Hespeler.

Hundreds gathered as brightly lit floats and marching bands made their way down Queen Street.

The Hespeler Parade is one of the few community Santa Claus Parades in Waterloo Region but remains a big tradition for residents in the village.

Heading up the parade was honorary parade marshal Peggy Bygrave.

Bygrave and her husband Russell had organized the Hespeler Santa Claus Parade since its inception. The two continued to appear in matching white suits ever since. Russell passed away in 2015.

Canada Post collected letters to Santa Claus at the parade and the Cambridge Food Bank accepted non-perishable food items and donations.
