The Ministry of Transportation says the ramp remains closed to manage traffic flow while work continues on the highway

The eastbound on ramp to Highway 401 at Shantz Hill Road will remain closed into next year as construction continues on the highway.

Anyone hoping for a fall reopening of the on ramp from Shantz Hill Road to the Toronto bound lanes of Highway 401 will have to wait another few months at least.

The Ministry of Transportation is keeping the closure intact until early next year to safely manage traffic flow on the highway during reconstruction of the centre portion of the 401 and the ongoing rehabilitation of the King Street Bridge structure.

The on ramp has been closed for nearly two years.

In an email to CambridgeToday, Tanya Blazina, senior media relations officer with MTO, said the ramp is expected to remain closed until early next year as part of the reconstruction staging and to accommodate construction vehicle access.

Construction work on the ramp itself is also ongoing and will be completed for the anticipated spring opening, she wrote.
