School bus carrying students in head-on collision on Dundas Street North

Northbound lanes of Dundas Street North are closed this hour as police investigate an collision involving a school bus

Students heading home from school are shaken up but uninjured after the school bus they were riding in collided head-on with an SUV on Dundas Street North near the Beverly Street roundabout this afternoon.

Police and Cambridge firefighters were on scene to investigate the collision and closed the northbound lanes of the road heading toward the Delta intersection.

Ihtsham Haq, owner of Sami's Automobiles on Dundas Street was in his shop when he heard a loud bang and came running to see the bus pushing the SUV down the street.

"It sounded like something was falling from the sky," said Haq.

After running outside he was able to help open the door to the bus and allow the kids to exit and wait at his shop until being picked up by their parents.

Haq noted that the SUV must have jumped the curb before hitting the bus head-on.

No injuries were reported and the road remains closed until further notice.

The front end of the SUV suffered severe damage in the collision.
