A Hespeler Road restaurant at a building near the 401 proposed to eventually be demolished has gone up for sale.
Republik Asian Eatery and Bar at 510 Hespeler Rd. is now listed for sale a little over a year since it opened.
Requests for comment from Republik were not immediately returned.
The restaurant bills itself as a merging of Asian cuisine, a trendy kitchen bar atmosphere and the energy of a nightclub. It also has locations in Kitchener and Windsor.
Its real estate listing noted it is 6,300 square feet with 250 seats, a sunken dance floor and a high-end party and lighting system.
All appliances are said to be included with its $795,000 listing price.
The building housing it may not be around for the long term however.
It is included in a massive proposal that would include five 20-storey residential, mixed use towers to the corner of Hespeler Road and Langs Drive with a total of 1,366 units of various size.
The developer had applied for an official plan amendment and zoning bylaw amendment in 2022 but has since brought an appeal to the Ontario Land Tribunal over a lack of a decision by the City of Cambridge within the statutory 120 day period described in the Planning Act.
A planning justification report for the proposal said the existing commercial structures at the site, currently Republik and Swiss Chalet, would be demolished as part of a future phase.
The real estate listing said the lease term on the restaurant ends on Sept. 30, 2036.
