The Lions Can-Amera Park will soon be home to a new splash pad and the city is seeking input on what type of interactive water features and theme it should have through a new survey running until Jan. 1, 2025.
Residents can access the survey through the Engage Cambridge site, which provides details on the themes and features being considered for the $860,000 project.
Construction is set to begin in the spring, on the park's north side adjacent to Clemens Mill Public School and within easy access from Saginaw Parkway.
Two themes are being considered. One is a nature theme with features that reflect "the experience of walking through a forest or alongside a pond brought to life through water play. The second theme is "the high seas" and "is designed to immerse visitors in the feeling of sailing the high seas, with exciting water features inspired by marine life."
The city says the proposed splash pad is designed to meet high standards of accessible and inclusive play for all abilities and ages.
"With a range of water elements catering to different sensory and interactive play styles, it ensures enjoyment for young children, teens, and adults alike."
A gently sloped hillside adjacent to the splash pad will provide "a unique, elevated vantage point where families can relax and enjoy a scenic, top-down view of the play area."
It will include a shade structure and seating areas.
