The region is continuing to plan for the upcoming reconstruction of Ainslie Street in downtown Galt and is seeking community feedback on the proposed design.

Starting in 2021, the region began formulating a plan to address deteriorating infrastructure and add some modernization to the growing Galt core.

On Nov. 9 at 6 p.m. the region will host an online session for members of the community to help with the design process and voice suggestions and concerns around the proposed plan.

There are several improvements the region is looking at making including asphalt rehabilitation on Ainslie Street, from Water Street South to Concession Street, and from Simcoe Street to Water Street North.

Improvements of other sections of Ainslie Street from Concession Street to Simcoe Street will include the replacement of underground and surface infrastructure, including sewers, water mains, traffic signals and new sidewalks.

During the meeting the region will give an update on where they are with the project and when construction is suspected to start.

According to the region's website, they are in preliminary design and community consultation phase with a report heading to regional council in winter 2024.

Construction is not projected to start until spring 2026.
