Health Canada has issued a recall notice for Westinghouse branded Current Taps with Surge Protector after one reported incident of electrical shock.
The company reported that 25,660 units of the affected product were sold in Canada. The affected products were sold from November 2017 to October 2020.
Anyone who purchased the product is asked to immediately stop using the recalled product and dispose of it in accordance with the applicable local transportation and waste requirements for electronic products.
The affected product is for indoor use only and is a six-way surge protector with current taps with two sets of outlets.
Health Canada says an electric short will develop when this product is connected to a wall outlet with a two-line feed, posing a risk of electrical shock and a fire hazard to the user and bystanders. Health Canada believes that this product likely poses a danger to human health or safety.
As of Dec. 5, the company has received one reported incident in Canada, with no injuries reported.
