Nominations for the Gale-Walker Community Award will remain open until July 31.
Given out by the Preston Heights Community Group, the award recognizes individuals who demonstrate community ownership, commitment and leadership qualities that positively impacts the the Preston neighbourhood.
The award was created to honour the legacy of board members and long-time residents Michelle Walker and the late George Gale.
Gale was a constant presence and could often be seen behind the grill during community barbecues or fixing items in the community centre.
Walker has been a member of the PHCG board for 10 years and has displayed a tireless commitment to residents in the community.
To qualify for nomination an individual must live or volunteer within the Preston or Preston Heights neighbourhood. The nominee must display an inspiring impact and strong effort to achieve the change they hope to see.
Individuals of all ages are eligible.
