The City of Cambridge is using the Canada Post strike to encourage residents to sign up for online billing and reminds residents that payment due dates for property taxes and water bills will not change due to a lack of mail delivery.
All incoming and outgoing mail will be impacted by the strike, which began Friday across the country.
The city reminds customers that they are responsible for making a bill payment by the due date, regardless of the postal strike.
The city will add a 1.25 per cent charge on the first day of default for any late payments and on the first day of each month until the account is paid
Tax and water bills can be viewed through the city's MyTax and MyWater portals.
Residents who haven't done so already are encouraged to sign up for eBilling to prevent delayed invoices and payments.
Residents can sign up to have your water bill and tax bill sent directly to an email account in PDF format.
Payments can be made through financial institutions, telephone and online banking, in person or use the drop box at city hall.
Tax and water bills can also be paid online or by phone through Paymentus, a third party credit card option. Visit Pay online or call 1 (877) 810-7295.
Residents can enroll in a pre-authorized payment plan that automatically withdraws payments directly from a bank account.
Residents can fill out an application form and include a void cheque and return to [email protected].
Residents can still pay their bills in person between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the city hall adminstrative office at 50 Dickson Street.
