A residential fire in Cambridge has resulted in two residents being displaced and an estimated $300,000 in damages.
The fire has been completely extinguished and everyone safely evacuated with no serious injuries, but the cause is still under investigation.
Cambridge fire officials promptly responded to the call that came in around 9:25 a.m. on Saturday morning, arriving on the scene shortly after.
"We did notice grey and black smoke upon our arrival, so we knew that this was a structure fire and advised all the responding units accordingly," Cambridge Fire Department Suppression Captain Luis Gomes told 570 News.
"We're lucky that we do have really good fire response here in Cambridge, so fire services here in our city are well prepared to deal with situations like this," he said. "We arrived quickly, [and] right behind us was the second truck. So response was quick, and that definitely affected how quickly we were able to suppress this fire."
At the time of writing, a fire investigator is on scene, and the Cambridge Fire Department is assisting in "sifting through some of the material in the room of origin," according to Gomes.
