Chief Designate Crowell will assume the role of WRPS Chief of Police on Thursday, November 24.

Waterloo Region's new police chief will be sworn in at a ceremony this Thursday afternoon.

Mark Crowell will become the seventh chief of the Waterloo Regional Police Service. It was announced in late October that Crowell, a former deputy chief, would be taking over for Bryan Larkin who retired from the service in the summer to take a position with the RCMP.

Thursday's ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Kitchener-Waterloo Hotel in Kitchener.

It will feature KW Youth Symphony Orchestra, KW Glee and members of the Chief's Honour Guard.

The service plans to broadcast the ceremony live on its social media channels (TwitterFacebook, and YouTube).
