In an effort to offset backlogged endoscopy procedures, Cambridge Memorial Hospital is partnering with a Kitchener colonoscopy clinic.

The Tri-City Colonoscopy Clinic at Sportsworld Crossing will now be receiving a number of patients from the hospital.

As it stands, Cambridge Memorial had a backlog of 1,600 patients for endoscopy procedures as of July 2021.

It's expected this will help offset about 500 cases on the list.

"COVID-19 disrupted our health care system and we were put in a position to find unique ways to help address the wait lists," said Dr. Augustin Nguyen, gastroenterologist and TCC Medical Director.

The partnership itself is the result of a proposal that was looking for requests to help address the amount of procedures backlogged by COVID-19.
