The reconstruction of Blenheim Road this summer will come with a multi-use trail and pedestrian crossover near the Devil's Creek Trail head.

The new trail also provides a continuation of the existing trail constructed along Blenheim Road between Devil’s Creek Trail and Bismark Drive as part of the Cambridge West subdivision.

Staff will ask council next week to approve amending the bylaw to allow the crossover.

Staff say the location is considered a significant trail crossing as both the 2010 Trails Master Plan and the 2019 Cycling Master Plan recommend future trail extensions south of Blenheim Road.

Based on anticipated crossings and vehicle activity there it was determined a Level 2 crossover is warranted using the Ontario Traffic Manual criteria.

The crossover will include activated flashing lights, signage and road markings.

The budget to reconstruct Blenheim Road is set at just under $8.4 million, about $65,000 of which is for the crossover.
