Four neighbourhood associations and the YWCA Three Rivers are teaming up to host a city-wide basketball tournament.
The Preston Heights Community Group, Alison Neighbourhood Association, Greenway Chaplin-Community Centre and Kinbridge Community Association are putting on the third edition of the event at the Conestoga College Doon Campus located at 299 Doon Valley Dr. on March 10 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Groups will be split into two, with youth in Grades 7 to 9 playing against each other and students in Grades 10 to 12 competing against one another.
Using sport to form community connections is nothing new to PHCG as it also runs an About the Bounce basketball program designed to teach kids about the game and promote leadership qualities. On the court, youth learn various skills from experienced coaches. Off the court, they have in-depth discussions about self care and the importance of community.
The tournament is free with lunch provided and prizes being awarded.
Registration opens today at 9 a.m. and can be done by clicking here.
