Home sales in July down from last year, but still above 10-year average: CREA

Lowest number of new listings added in the month of July in more than a decade

The Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) has reported a decrease in home sales in July 2021 compared to July 2020. A total of 250 units were sold in the Cambridge region in July 2021, a decline of 22.1 per cent from July 2020.

While the total is lower than last year's, it is above the five-year average by 9.5 per cent and above the ten-year average by 11 per cent for the month of July.

Statistics show the dollar value of all homes sold in July was $201.2 million down 2.2 per cent from the same month of 2020.

In July 2021:

  • 250 residential units were sold
  • $804,920 was the average price of homes sold
  • 235 new residential listings were posted

To compare, in July 2020:

  • 321 residential units were sold
  • $640,860 was the average price of homes sold
  • 375 new residential listings were posted
