Grand River Transit is looking for artist submissions for the 2024 Pride bus.

Grand River Transit is calling on local artists, graphic designers and illustrators as it plans for this year's Pride bus.

Individuals are invited to submit their qualifications to design a full-colour digital image to be applied on a GRT bus, posters, interior bus cards, decals and a window mural.

Designs should represent the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in an effort raise awareness about the importance of inclusion and community connection, while incorporating the theme of “Let’s Pride together.”

The bus initially hit the road in 2022 as a sign of the region's commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive space for all customers and staff.

Those looking to submit their work must be over 18 years of age, a resident of Waterloo region and have a connection to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. The artist must be able to meet applicable deadlines and have the work completed by April 30.

Submissions will be judged by a panel based on the statement of interest and connection to the project theme, strength of submitted past work, uniqueness and potential public appeal and a demonstrated ability to complete the work on time.

The selected artist will receive $3,000 plus HST for the completed design.

Deadline to submit is March 17 at 11:59 p.m.
