Pearl, a tribute act featuring the music of Janis Joplin, and Ben Rollo, playing the music of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, will be coming to the main stage at Gaslight District's Public Square at the end of July to celebrate the grand opening of the public space.

Both main stage acts are scheduled for Saturday, July 29, but the free community celebration will kick off July 28 and run through July 30.

More musical acts are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

The one acre outdoor venue on Grand Avenue South can hold over 4,000 people and will be lined with patios from the Foundry Tavern, Tapestry Hall and a market that will also be opening this spring.

In the lead up to the grand opening, the district is looking for market stall vendors and artists looking for shared studio space.

"This is just the first of many exciting announcements!," reads a post on a Facebook page dedicated to the public square.

Once opened, the square will host outdoor movie nights, music and sports viewing events on a big screen.
