Cyclist in hospital with serious injuries following crash with vehicle

A 16-year-old girl on a bicycle was taken to hospital by air ambulance earlier today with serious injuries following a collision with a motor vehicle at Shirley Drive and Bingemans Centre Drive in Kitchener.

At approximately 4:50 p.m., emergency services responded to reports of a crash between a Mazda and a cyclist. The driver of the Mazda, a 22-year-old female from Kitchener, was not injured. The cyclist was taken to an out-of-region hospital.

The intersection was closed for several hours for an investigation by Waterloo Regional Police.
