Graham Braun, who founded Monigram Coffee Roasters with his wife Monica, has died.

Braun was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, in 2021.

Soon after the diagnosis, family friend Tracey Curtis launched a GoFundMe to support the family's growing list of expenses.

She posted a note on the page Tuesday to announce Graham's passing.

"I am so sorry to share with you the news of Graham's peaceful passing yesterday January 14th," she wrote.

"We are all wanting to help and support this incredible family as they continue this next chapter without Graham.

"We can do that many ways, continuing to visit and enjoy Monigram coffee, being good friends and community members to Monica, Caitlin and Maddie as they heal and find this new ground, and support through this page for final expenses and helping the girls with their start.

"Thank you for all of you that have followed along and supported any way that you could. It is heartbreaking to loose such a kind loving man. He will be so missed by many!!

"We will send details of the celebration of life as they unfold."

Support from the community through the GoFundMe generated close to $60,000 to help the Brauns get through their difficult journey.

An update in April of last year said after four tries with other devices, a wheelchair was purchased that met Graham's needs. The money also allowed the Brauns to complete a number of accessibility renovations to their home.

In an interview with CambridgeToday in 2022, Graham was realistic about his diagnosis as he thanked the community for their support.

He said despite the difficulties presented by a terminal illness he was adamant the downtown Galt business he started with his wife in 2012 wasn't going anywhere.

“That is the legacy I want to leave, a strong community location that supports its community partners.”
