The Christmas tree is up at Cambridge city hall.

The City of Cambridge is getting in the Christmas spirit.

A large Christmas tree, which was donated by four local residents, has been erected at city hall.

"The Blue Spruce had outgrown its spot and we felt this was a good send off - to share the tree with the community this holiday season," the residents told the city.

The tree signifies the beginning of several holiday themed events.

Winter Ice and Lights, a light installation in Preston's Central Park, begins Friday.

On Nov. 22, Phil Kline's Unsilent Night returns with music and light shows across Galt.

Two days later, the CKPC Holiday Train rolls through the station at 20 Malcolm St. with performances from American Authors and KT Tunstall.

A holiday themed tree lighting with music is taking place in Hespeler Village on Dec. 6.

The Cambridge Christmas Market at city hall and the Cambridge Centre for the Arts will be set up on Dec. 14 and 15 to wrap up the pre-Christmas festivities.

To close out the year, the annual New Year's Eve Party at Hespeler Arena is happening on Dec. 31.
