The Cambridge Shelter Corp. (CSC) is hitting the links again for its annual Golf For a Cause event.

On Aug. 12, the CSC is opening up the Galt Country Club to non-members and get people on the green at the historic golf course.

"Galt Country Club opens its doors to golfers, sponsors, and friends of CSC and YWCA Cambridge for our exclusive Classic Golf Tournament. Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy a day of golf while helping the most vulnerable in our community," said the shelter in a Facebook post.

All funds collected from the event will go to support the shelter's emergency shelter program which sees hundreds of guests each night.

The Bridge's Shelter that the CSC runs is one of the most efficient and successful emergency shelters in the region in finding individuals housing.

"Over the past several years CSC has seen a devastating increase in the number of seniors accessing help at The Bridges. CSC creates and delivers support programs based on a Housing First model and continues to support individuals while they re-establish their community connections and are able to live independently," wrote the charity on its event page.

Attendees will enjoy 18 holes of golf on the scenic course nestled on the Grand River with a focus on fun.

Organizers note that players can arrive early to practice their swing, challenge themselves at a putting contest and purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win prizes.

The event begins at 11:30 a.m. with registration, followed by a BBQ lunch before teeing off at 1 p.m.
