Porchlight Counselling and Addiction Services (Porchlight) will host its third annual Cambridge Moves for Mental Health event on Saturday, May 10 to raise funds and awareness for affordable and accessible mental health services in Cambridge and North Dumfries.
Cambridge Moves for Mental Health is an accessible event modelled on a “walk-a-thon”, which encourages members of the community to fight the stigma around mental health, and raise funds for mental health services, by asking people they know to sponsor them as they complete a 2.5 km or 5 km route in support of Porchlight Counselling and Addiction Services.
Participants can register now, then on May 10 meet in Cambridge Civic Square, in front of City Hall, 50 Dickson St.
Sign-in begins at 10:30 a.m. followed by activities begin at 11:00 a.m., with a welcome from Porchlight executive director Cameron Dearlove and other dignitaries.
The marching route will open at 11:30 a.m.
A light lunch and family friendly entertainment will be available starting at 11:50 a.m. at Cambridge Civic Square.
Participants can:
- Start a team - Want to invite others to participate? Why not start a team and organize your friends, co-workers, neighbours or others to join in together!
- Join an existing team - Does a team already exist for your work-place or group? Join it and compete with other teams for number of participants and donations gathered!
- Participate individually - Just want to join the event yourself? Sign-up to participate on your own and join in all the fun!
Anyone who can't attend the event May 10 can still donate in support of accessible mental health in our community!
Sponsorship opportunities are available.
