Police have charged a 23-year-old Cambridge male and four others with a slew of charges related to their involvement in operating large cannabis grow-op at a property near Innerkip.
The Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police said it launched a drug trafficking investigation earlier this month and raided a property on Oxford Road 29 on Sept. 7 that resulted in the arrests of five people on charges ranging from cultivation of a controlled substance, possession, drug trafficking and possession of a firearm.
Several police units were involved in the investigation and execution of a search warrant on the property that resulted in the seizure of over 1,300 cannabis plants, over 300 pounds of processed cannabis, a quantity of suspected cocaine, hashish, cannabis resin, firearms and a stolen vehicle.
The value of the items seized is estimated at over $2 million.
A 57-year-old Drumbo male and 54-year-old Drumbo female are charged with cultivation, propagation and harvesting cannabis, altering cannabis by using an organic solvent, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
Police charged a 31-year-old Mississauga male and 62-year-old Markham male with cultivation at a place that isn’t their residence.
The Cambridge male is charged with cultivation and possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purposes of trafficking.
OPP say their investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending.
All of the accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on a later date.
