The Idea Exchange has released a new strategic plan after hiring Intent Consultants to collect input last year from library members, staff, and the community aimed at helping the Cambridge library develop organizational goals for the next four years.

The feedback provided is reflected in the priorities of their newly released 2024 – 2027 Strategic Plan.

Key takeaways from the community survey responses included:

  • 64 per cent visit the library more than once a month.

  • 96 per cent agreed that public libraries are needed now, more than ever.

  • 100 per cent believed that public libraries are important for the community and bring value.

“We are excited to launch our new 2024 – 2027 Strategic Plan which will serve as our roadmap to deliver exceptional library services that resonate with our community,” expressed Chrissy Hodgins, CEO, Idea Exchange in a press release.

“We consider this plan our call to action to reduce barriers to literacies in all their forms by creating opportunities for every member to explore ideas and expand their imagination, while providing a space where community comes together.”

The plan featured three strategic priorities:

  1. Inspire Through Experiences: Creating opportunities to explore and learn together.

  2. Connect Through Community: Inviting people and partners to create positive change.

  3. Empower Through Learning: Embracing knowledge that inspires people to unlock their potential.

The 2024 – 2027 Strategic Plan is now available at each Idea Exchange location within Cambridge and on the library website.
