The work of those at the Cambridge Food Bank hasn't been going unnoticed.
Charity Intelligence, an organization that analyzes and rates charities across Canada, has named the local food bank among its Top 10 Impact Charities, Top 10 Canadian Impact Charities and Top 10 Impact: Canadian Food Banks of 2023.
Inclusion in the rankings is based off the amount of demonstrated impact charities had on its clients and society in the past year.
Charity Intelligence's assessments are based off five key objectives, which include donor reporting, financial transparency, funding need, cents to the cause and demonstrated impact that shows proven results.
In total, the organization reports on and rates over 850 Canadian charities.
The Cambridge Food Bank is listed as financially transparent and dedicates $0.92 of every dollar to the cause. It's demonstrated impact is also recorded as high.
The recognition is important given the rising demand.
According to the food bank's data, it's seen a 36 per cent increase in new households accessing its services compared to the same time last year.
