Cambridge Art Galleries invites the community to explore how art can help create a sense of connection, healing, and belong in a new community exhibition at the Preston Gallery.

“For this exhibition, I’ve been inspired by the voices of our community, who expressed a deep desire to showcase their work in our galleries; what an incredible request to receive,” shared Alix, director of Cambridge Art Galleries. “Belonging is a vital thread in our rich local tapestry and social infrastructure. This exhibition celebrates the creativity and interconnectedness of local artists of all ages, mediums, and experiences. Our local creators are incredibly talented! We’re thrilled to invite visitors to contribute their own creations to our interactive display. Cambridge Art Galleries is your home for creative belonging.”

Belonging - Juried Community Art Exhibition is a juried community art exhibition featuring works by 13 creators from across Waterloo Region. From painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, and other media, these local artists explore and interpret what it means to belong – whether to a community, a culture, a place, or even their self. The work was selected by a jury following a community call to artists.

Exhibition Artists: Mackenzie Browning, Emmi Boyle, Daniel Burton, Cassidy Civiero, Soroush Dabiri, Margarita Kuznetsova, Christine Lippa, Iqra Majeed, Judy Major-Girardin, Ohla Mar, Robin McGauley, Jessica Penney, Barry Smylie.

The community is invited to an exhibition celebration on Feb. 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to celebrate the creative makers in our community. Belonging - Juried Community Art Exhibition will be on display in the Preston Gallery, 435 King St. E., Cambridge, until March 9.

Belonging - Juried Community Art Exhibition is supported by the Waterloo Region Community Foundation, Social Infrastructure.
