LETTER: Preston residents shouldn't have to listen to late-night concerts

'This weekend's party at Riverside Park was another example of a lack of respect for the people of Preston by these party organizers and our city hall,' a reader writes

Riverside Park in Preston.

CambridgeToday received the following letter to the editor about noisy gatherings at Riverside Park.

First it was the kites landing over Preston and in the river last year.

Then a Labour Day weekend bash at Riverside Park was terrible for noise and ran until midnight.

This past weekend's party at Riverside Park was another example of a lack of respect for the people of Preston by these party organizers and our city hall.

They blocked off the road so people could not even walk their dogs through the park.

People were told they had this area for their party and people could not pass through this public park we pay taxes for.

Garbage was all over the area the next day tree limbs broken and even on Monday litter was still there.

Beer cans, empty six pack boxes on the ground.

I wonder if they had a permit to serve or drink beer in the park?

It looks like now anyone can block off the road to people coming into the park, have loud music till midnight, and leave litter on the ground.

Councillors Helen Shwery and Cory Kimpson at least showed up to the park to help us.

Thank you both.

I suggest they move this party to Victoria Park, Dixon Park or even Churchill Park to share the love.
