Ross, Fraser MacDonald (1934-2024)
Remembering Fraser at Christmas time.
Fraser was born in Toronto. He attended Queen’s University in Kingston before becoming a Chartered Accountant (C.A.). He worked as an auditor for the federal government in the mid-60s.
Fraser took up a teaching post at Southwood Secondary School in Cambridge. He taught accountancy and was the Student Advisor and Activities Director. He organized the student body to be onsite for the 1967 Centennial dedication of the student-built water wheel at Churchill Park. To the end of his days, Fraser would still meet former students who would remember him.
After leaving teaching in the mid-70s, Fraser opened his C.A. office serving the community in Cambridge. He and his wife, Irene, also a professional accountant, ran the business meeting many wonderful residents of the area, until retirement.
Fraser and Irene both enjoyed ballroom dancing. They took lessons and taught dance for many years in Grimsby.
Fraser had a great love for reading about philosophy and economics. He loved to continually discover and discuss “the way the world works." His “spark” ignited many lively discussions within his circle of friends.
Fraser delighted in story-telling admitting that he “never let the truth get in the way of a good story.”
Fraser spent his last month in hospice care at Lisaard House. He greatly appreciated the care he received and the beauty at Lisaard.
Fraser Ross died, at peace with the world, August 27th, 2024 leaving his loving wife of 42 years, Irene (nee Nelle) and the Graupners of Manitoba. He was predeceased by his parents, Hector & Pearl Ross, and son, David.
A private service was held in Manitoba in late September.
We will miss Fraser always.
